National Condom Week Podcast
This past week was National Condom Week. All across the nation events took place to educate the public about the use of a condom, and the risk of not using a condom. It has been said that a condom is one of the primary lines of defense against STI’s.

- Condom use really works in preventing HIV transmission and unintended pregnancy. HIV CAN NOT PASS THROUGH CONDOMS!
- HIV and other sexually transmitted viruses and bacteria CAN be transmitted during oral, anal or vaginal intercourse–so always use a condom or a dental dam (or plastic wrap!).
- Condom testing is rigorous and goes above and beyond adequate safety measure testing.
- U.S. consumers now purchase more than 440 million condoms per year.

In this weeks podcast I speak to Karen, the Public Health Nurse from here in Wisconsin about an interesting partnership she has put together with the Tavern League of that county. We also hear from 30 year health educator Sue Kettner about the implications of not using a condom, as well as the use of a condom. We also talk to Laura Scudiere, the Executive Director of Bridge Community Health Clinic in Wausau, Wi about her experiences as a program staff in an HIV program in Chicago, IL.
