This week I had the great privilege of speaking to Louise Melling of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project.  It was a thrill because as Director of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, Ms. Melling oversees nationwide litigation and communications programs, as well as legislative advocacy efforts in Congress and the state legislatures.  Ms. Melling has appeared in federal and state courts around the country to challenge laws that restrict reproductive rights.  For example, she has secured injunctions against abortion bans; she has led several successful state constitutional challenges to restrictions on Medicaid coverage for abortions; and she has participated in numerous challenges to laws restricting teenagers’ access to abortion.

We talked about the Presidents proposed Regulations concerning changes to Reproductive Health Services.  It was a wide ranging discussion, and we at Below The Waist were thrilled to have such a chance to speak to a leader in the field.

As you can see, on our website we’ve added a blue button with the ACLU logo.  Click here to send your comments about the proposed rule change to HHS.
