Podcast Number 4: HIV/AIDS
[Thank you for you patience, the podcast has been replaced.]
On Podcast Number 4 of Below The Waist we talk about HIV. HIV has often been seen as the elephant in the room, or an overwhelming concern this week we talk to two people who work daily with the impacts of HIV from two different perspectives.
Our first guest is Kevin O’Connell from the UW Health Clinic in Wausau, WI. Kevin has spent a large amount of his time working with HIV patients, and guiding them through treatment as their physician. His perspective on this issue is fascinating, and we are thrilled to have a chance to speak to him.
Our second guest is Gwen Mastin of Chicago. Gwen is the Executive Director of the New Phoenix Assistance Center in Chicago. The New Phoenix focuses on the nuts and bolts of life for HIV positive mothers. Clearly her emphasis is providing safe housing, and guiding these women through the bureaucracy that is facing them. Gwen was an awarded Robert Wood Johnson Community Health Leader award in 2004.
